Welcome to our dedicated website for the Suffolk Water Recycling, Transfer and Storage Project.

Find Out More

The East of England is among the driest regions in the UK, a view supported by the Environment Agency assessment that classified the region as a ‘Serious Water Stressed Area’.

Project Overview

To ensure that we have enough water for now and future generations, we are investing over £1.5 billion in the next five years, and this project is part of the solution.

The Suffolk Water Recycling, Transfer and Storage Project is made up of two key elements, the development of a new Advanced Water Recycling Plant, capable of producing 11 million litres per day of purified recycled water, and strategic network enhancements that will support a more reliable and resilient water supply for the region.

Purpose of the Winter Consultation 2025

An essential part of developing and delivering an effective project is meaningful and effective engagement with stakeholders. We’re committed to open and meaningful engagement. That means being transparent about how your feedback helps shape our proposals and how your views will influence how the Project is delivered in the future.

Consultation Closed

Our consultation ran from 29 October 2025 to 17 December 2025. We'd like to thank everyone who came to one of our events, filled in a feedback form, or wrote us an email or letter. Whilst the Winter 2025 Consultation is now closed, you can still access and read all of the consultation documents in the document library.

What Happens Next

Now the consultation is closed we will carefully review all the feedback we have received, alongside findings from our ongoing technical and environmental studies. This will help us refine our proposals ahead of a further consultation in 2027, where we’ll share a preferred pipeline route, the preferred site of our above ground infrastructure and other key elements of the Project.

We’ll also begin identifying potential construction areas, such as access routes and construction working compounds. Throughout this process, we’ll continue engaging with stakeholders and local communities to help shape the project together.
